General information
Flonase is a medicine containing the corticosteriod fluticasone. It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It is used to treat nasal symptoms such as congestion, sneezing, and runny nose caused by seasonal or year-round allergies, asthma, eczema, psoriasis.
Directions
Use Flonase exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not use the medication in larger amounts, or use it for longer than recommended by your doctor. It may be as a nasal spray, inhalation aerosol and inhalation powder.
Precautions
If you have the problems with the adrenal gland, must be very cautious with the medicine. Avoid using the drug if you have pulmonary tuberculosis. Flonase can lower the blood cells that help your body fight infections. Avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Call your doctor for preventive treatment if you are exposed to chicken pox or measles. These conditions can be serious or even fatal in people who are using this medicine. Use Flonase nasal spray with the regular intervals.
Contraindications
Avoid using the drug if you have an allergic reaction, acne, dermatitis, scabies, skin injury by bacterial, viral and fungal causation, if you are pregnant or children under 1 y.o. and those under 4 years.
Possible side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have hives, swelling of your face, ongoing nose bleed, sores in the nose that won't heal, an allergy, fever, chills, flu symptoms, sickness or retching.
Drug interactions
Before using Flonase, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs: prednisone and dexamethasone, certain antifungal medications such as ketoconazole or HIV medicines such as ritonavir.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don't take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Call emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include Cushing's syndrome with the augmentation of weight.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
